Anchor Wall Art - Raw Finish

The purpose of an anchor is to stop a ship, stabilize it on the water, and hold it steadfast at its intended location.  An anchor is the safest and most secure thing at sea, and it has long been a symbol of protection, stability, and security.  Representing honour, loyalty, and, of course, hope, an anchor tattoo was frequently accompanied by a heart, the words "Mom" or "Dad," or a sweetheart's name. Anchor tattoos were also for sailors who had successfully completed a journey across the Atlantic Ocean. 

For some, it's simply a representation of the sea. But it also represents more than the sea and boating to many. The symbol of an anchor has a deep and spiritual meaning to many.
- A “spiritual anchor” is something that helps keep us grounded, connected to what matters most, and able to cope with the challenges that life brings. 
- Someone or something that gives support when needed: She was my anchor when things were difficult for me.  
- A symbol of love as well, the anchor represents the two people who are in love with one another, who keep one another level headed by being committed to each other.

The anchor makes for a unique gift of significant meaning to give to someone near and dear as a token of love and commitment, or even a long abiding friendship.  Or a perfect present for someone who has a deep affinity with the sea, or loves boating.
