Scorpion 3D Medium Sculpture

Scorpions may be the oldest land animals still living today. They are arachnids with eight legs (like spiders), not insects.  A fascinating little creature they have some very interesting quirks:- Like the fact that they glow under UV light.  Fascinatingly, scientists have found they often still glow after thousands of years. Scorpions dance for each other before mating known as a promenade à deux (French for "walk for two") and give birth to live young.  In some species the young leave after a few days, and others stay with the mother up to two years.  Their venom can include dozens of different toxins.  Of 1,500 known species, only about 25 are thought to be capable of killing humans. Despite the potential dangers of scorpion venom, research has also revealed lots of helpful compounds being investigated by medical specialists for therapeutics and drug development.

This Scorpion, whilst a bit scary looking, is completely harmless and would look pretty awesome in the garden.  Place it in a rockery for a great effect.  Or for something completely different mount it up on a wall. Now that would be a talking point....
